We borrowed B.P. and Zoe's guitar this weekend to play co-op mode Guitar Hero. However, we are wearing clothes to play (unlike Zoe). Poor Phollower, having me as his partner, he is sure not to unlock anything interesting. Here are some facts about my Guitar Hero "playing" - to give you a feel for the situation (and remember, I am playing on EASY):
1. I failed on the second song we tried.
2. When I started to play, I had to change the finger I strummed with along with the finger movements on the next of the guitar. So if I was depressing my ring finger, I had to strum with my ring finger. About 3 hours later, I had found a way to kind of suppress this by using my first two fingers to strum.
3. We had been playing for about 90 minutes when it dawned on me that the little struts on the screen, where the notes are, have darker struts which seem to correspond with the downbeats in the song. It is a lot easier to play with Nate here to clap a rhythm for me.
4. Every time I lift the neck of the guitar to "unleash my star power" I screw up and play the wrong notes which in many ways negates the point of "unleashing star power."
The worst part is that the place where you choose your level (easy, medium, hard, expert) says something like, "Don't be a wimp. Unlocks are based on the player lowest level." I want to say - I'm not a wimp - I just suck! But it is sweet that Phollower will still play with me. My goal for today is to get through Santana - Black Magic Woman. I do ok until the end.
Maybe if I can do that, I'll try medium!

I just keep playing in the hopes that you'll decide that your clothes are getting in the way of your fingering, as it were.
aaaaaaaaaand on Phollower's note, I exit, stage right.
But not before flicking my lighter and yelling "Freebird" over and over again.
I've never played guitar here but my partner, Bing, is a music teacher and swears that they are the bane of her existence.
"If my kids spent all the time they use up playing guitar hero actually trying to learn on a real guitar, they would be master players by now..."
And then I come home to find her rocking out to guitar hero....
Thanks for encouragement Limpy!
Maria: I always thought maybe the "practice mode" in Guitar Hero would teach kids the benefit of practice. Guess that's not as true as I thought.
I can't wait til you're here and we can film you doing DDR.
Better than Yoga, or funnier at least.
