Don't think, by this post, that I don't love Zoe. I do. She is one of my best friends. But she has a few personality quirks (as we all do), and every time I watch The Big Bang Theory I think of her. If she were made into a sitcom, she would play the role of Sheldon. Sheldon is a child prodigy, quantum physicist. He went to college at 12 or something like that. But what makes him like Zoe are his neurotic tendencies. For example, he has a particular spot in the living room where he has to sit, even if it means asking someone else to move. Sheldon hangs out with 3 other guys. In one episode, one of them gets a girlfriend, meaning there are only 3 in their group. The 3 guys go to dinner. They usually order dumplings (which come as an order of 4) and 4 entrees and then split the food. But can not order since the food will not be able to be divided equally, which is NOT ok with Sheldon. The other 2 suggest ordering just 3 entrees, not 4, but Sheldon does not like that idea since it means changing their usual order. They also suggest they cut the 4th dumpling into thirds, but Sheldon does not want that since it makes the dumpling not a dumpling anymore.

Here he is describing the the physics of Superman.
You may ask how this relates to Zoe. Well I don't have the video clips, but let me describe.
Zoe organizes her glassware so that the like glasses are together in the cupboard. If BP puts them away on different shelves, she sometimes has to get up and rearrange the glass cupboard. In fact, it drives Zoe crazy that I purchase non-matching glasses. When I was showing someone new around my house one time, Zoe came into the kitchen for just one reason - to tell the person that my glasses don't match and I buy them that way (horrors!).
When we went to see Cloverfield at the theater, she was upset that we chose to sit on the left side of the theater since she "can't sit on that side." Unlike Sheldon, she toughed it out. She can not, no matter what, sit with her back to a window or door.
Zoe notices if the little wooden boxes which come in some games we play as markers are not cut exactly square. Both Zoe and Sheldon are creatures of habit.
Even with these little quirks, we all still love Zoe. I think one of the reasons I love that show so much is that it reminds me so much of her. And, in her defense, she is more flexible than Sheldon.

That is SO me. Well, I'm not nearly as intelligent and I'd like to think I'm not as geeky, but the quirks are dead on. I was rolling watching those clips. Maybe my Dark Passenger should be named Sheldon.
I am married to a Zoe. Bing is such a creature of habit that sneaks into our linen closet to refold sheets, towels, etc. It bugs her to have everything folded "haphazardly."
I deliberately buy glasses and plates that do not match. I think this makes her slightly queasy.
Zoe: You are definitely as intelligent, and to be honest, as geeky too. Sorry but you are both. They are two sides of the same coin, the Zoe coin.
Maria: I am glad to hear that. I was always very attracted to mismatched glasses, but the fact that it makes Zoe crazy, makes them even more attractive. I always show her my new purchases right away.
And those new purchases are shown, by necessity, one at a time.
Is Zoe a master of a martial art? I think it's samurais who never sit with their back to the door. Or mobsters. Do you think she could be one of them?
You know, Elle, I had not considered it. But now that you bring it up, it could be...it could be.
I am sooooooo laughing. So laughing. Just because, well ... Zoe and I are (more often than not) admitted evil twins on all those "quirky" blog quizzes. My glasses, dishware, etc. are all filed appropriately (am I redeemable in that some of it doesn't match other than size?); towels folded in thirds (then stacked by size and color -- solids and then complimentary pattern, toilet paper over' and only certain cleaning products will do?
AND DO NOT CLUTTER MY COUNTER SPACES.
Lovely post, Sylvia. I like that you are entirely graceful in your irreverent fun with Zoe's quirks. If you were my friend, I'd call ya a bitch, and laugh as I said it.
I am still soooo laughing. The really equally funny thing is that my gf is rather like me and Zoe, only (of course) in dis-complementary ways.
GM: Glad you liked it. And yep, you and Zoe are similar! I think you may have just given her a towel organizational idea. I put the towels away in the order they get folded when they come out of the dryer bin. We have two kinds of plates, and one is a hair bigger than the other. Phollower always goes in a rearranges the plates by size after I put them away. Makes me want to go in and rearrange them out of order again, but that would be so much work!
No, gm didn't give me any ideas. I was laughing when I read about the towel quirk because I do the same thing already. Exactly the same.
She's so cute though that it's all good.
