Phollower, Zoe, BP, and I went to the This American Life simulcast last night.
For those who are not familiar with This American Life, it a radio show where they present a set of stories about everyday Americans, all which fit a weekly theme. I am not doing it justice with that description since it is absolutely fabulous. You can listen to all back episodes by clicking the link for the show (above). You can download a free episode each week from iTunes. In fact, according to the creator, Ira Glass, it is the most downloaded podcast in America most weeks. There is also a new (second season about to start) TV version of the show on Showtime. Info on all of this is, in fact, on their website.
Sorry sounded like an ad there for a minute.
Anyway, the live show was hosted by Ira Glass and features clips of the new Showtime season, outtakes from the season, a Q&A about putting the show on, both radio and TV. It was amazing. I have loved this show for so long, over 10 years. It was such a treat to see Ira Glass live. I guess I don't have anything discerning to say, or least nothing that makes me sound less like a 16 year old at a "boy band" concert. But really CHECK THE PODCAST OUT.

I couldn't agree with you more. It was absolutely wonderful, I'm so glad we decided to go. Thanks again for the tickets.
Sounds interesting. Thanks for the free podcast tip. I need to load up my iPod with stuff before I leave on vacation next week.
Our local TV station does a short 5 minute show every day called the "Heartland Series". They mostly feature elderly people who have lived in Appalachia their whole lives. Many of the people have an unusual skill or trade that has not conformed to modern society. Probably the only thing I like about the evening news anymore.
Tysgirl - You should to go to ThisAmericanLife.org and download the "What I learned from TV". That's my favorite episode of all time.
I was also at this simulcast and it was amazing.
It's funny because it was a $15 ticket and I LOVED it. And tonight we are going to see the Police and we spent $100 per ticket and I bet it's not 1/2 as entertaining.
Thanks MrsOz!
I'm setting up subscriptions for the podcast now. I didn't realize how many great podcasts there are for free. NPR has quite a few and also The Onion.
