And the neighbors bought ear plugs

Phollower and I purchased a digital piano yesterday! It is a full 88 keys. It sounds so much like a piano that it really is unbelieveable. I have wanted a piano ever since we moved here. I took lessons as a kid, until I was about 14. And I really miss playing. We have been waiting to purchase one until we were sure we would not be moving again, since they are so heavy. Even though we have no plans to move, this piano is light (and less expensive than a real one). Phollower and I carried it on our own, meaning it weighs less than the TV (which required Zoe and another friend, Porter, to help Phollower to get it in the door).

Anyway, I have been playing pretty much non-stop since it got in the house. This means the house is filled with non-rhythmic plinking, which is often inhamonic due to the notes I miss. Phollower is being sweet, saying it sounds good and I am improving. Does he want to get laid or what? I am sure the noise is causing the neighbors to wonder exactly how long the torture will continue. My refresher lessons start next week, so I estimate it will continue for longer than they had hoped.

some keyboards come with a plug in for ear phones...does yours? that way you can play and practise to your heart's content and not disturb anyone other than your own eardrums.

What fun! I never learned to play an instrument. I tried the trumpet for a while but oddly enough I was allergic to the mouth piece. My lips would swell beyond Angelina Jolie proportions.

You sounded pretty darn good to me. I'm so glad you got it.

dykewife: Yes, it does have a headphone jack. I need to give that a try. I usually don't like to wear headphones though.

tysgirl: Maybe you were allergic to the metal? I played baritone and tuba in band as a teenager. I picked them since all the trombone and trumpet players were boys, some pretty cute juniors and seniors. I figured at least the scenery would be good back there.

Zoe: You may be somewhat biased. But thanks for the encouragement! Can't wait til we get the band together, man!

Very cool!! Glad you're having a great time with it. I'd love to hear you play.

Coincidentally Frank is getting me one for my birthday too. Yes my birthday was a few weeks ago but I haven't managed to get to a music store to pick out the one I want. I also played as a kid (3rd through 12th grade) but have mostly forgotten whatever I once knew.

Laneyj: I thought I had forgotten everything, but it is coming back so fast. The hardest part is relearning to read music. My fingers seem to remember where the keys are. I can't wait for you to get one too. You are welcome to try mine out before you pick one if you want.

Your playing really does sound good, Honey. It makes me very happy to listen to you play and see you so happy.

I'll be in the bedroom.
